JamesSmedley (2) If you are genuinely interested I recommend a few short books…
“Modern Africa: a social and political history” by Basil Davidson
“How Europe Underdeveloped Africa” - Walter Rodney
You might find the first book a bit more palatable, it’s written by a British historian and is quite neutral. Rodney’s is more of a polemic but nonetheless makes very valid points
(1) JamesSmedley. Branding an entire continent’s people as “weak and dumb” as you did earlier is hardly constructive. If you want to know the FACTS about Africa’s current economic state I suggest you research rather than rely on your subjective opinion. I blame the education system in most Western states. It bleats endlessly about how Britain/ USA ‘industrialised’ yet never mentions where the capital came from for this - which was government-sponsored colonialism, exploitationof African labor)
The Axis of evil:U.S,Britain France, and Israel do not like to see any country do good so they are going to try to stop the progress. Those countries leaders are agents of Satan.
africa should belong to the motherland. all of africa should bow b4 hu jintao.
we can agree that China in africa is better than White countries in China
No, actually we gotta[blacks allover the world]rescue the Motherland. We’re responsible for our own liberation. China can only help so much.
I believe this too. Chinese guys are cute too.
Well, come to thnk of it,your argument about landlocked countries being hamstrung economically is quite pertinent.Singapore,Taiwan,South Korea and the other Asian economic powerhouses (esp. China and India) all have coastlines. Thanks for making a salient point without resorting to criticism or rudeness.
I mean’t to say China developed without Christian evangelicals balling down their ears.
Fantastic comment thank you for explaining to this simpleton how the world really works.
You’d think he’d never heard of economic sanctions or economic warfare ask the Argentinians.
Their economy came under serious attack during the Clinton administration.

(3) Finally, when the only images of africa that filter through to Western media is that of starving children, warfare, disaster it’s hardly surprising that the general public believes that everybody is poor, living in squalor, living hand to mouth from ‘aid’. Africa does have a bad leadership problem as their politicians have not placed priority on building its infrastructure/ opportunity. but despite these odds against them many Africans are doing very well

(2) You also have to take into account the size/ geography of African countries. The partition of Africa into 52 small countries has caused many African countries to be landlocked with no sea-based trade possible - which is in stark contrast to many Asian economies. it also disrupted already established regional trading partnerships with peoples who shared a lingua franca such as Hausa/Fulani. Size is also important.

(1) It’s a multifaceted problem that cannot be explained by skin color. The fact is even though Ghana has received their political independence. they did not receive their economic independence from neo-colonialism. Example:
Let’s look at foreign ‘aid”. Ghana is a rice growing country. When the West gives aid to Africa - they don’t give money they dump foodstuff such as ‘rice’. This destroys Ghana’s industries. Further more World Bank policies have exacerbated these problems
Hello. And Bye.
